photo by Daniel McManusI write songs on accordion, concertina, and guitar (although you’ll rarely find me playing any but the accordion in public). I’ve also written dark electronica for a number of years, but this isn’t the page for that. [Instead, this is]. I’ve toured as a drummer for post-goth rockers Ego Likeness.

I’ve been playing music on the streets for seven or eight years (including on the streets outside Convergence 13 with Nathaniel Johnstone and Paul Mercer), and from time to time it has been my primary occupation.

Only recently, however, have I begun to take the stage.

I’ve played with Jill Tracy, The Ghosts Project, Nicki Jaine, and Schrodinger’s Cat.

There are photos of myself on stage by Daniel McManus and Libby Bulloff.
Libby has also taken numerous pictures of me playing on the street or in ruins.

Scary White Girl has to say that

Magpie Killjoy is like the twisted love child of Tom Waits and Voltaire, with an accordian. I love accordian music (a great-uncle of mine played when I was very young), and he had the crazy raspy voice of Tom Waits with the funny but poignant lyrics of Voltaire.
